Beauty treatments and award-winning fragranced candles from Maeva Rae

by

Frances Prescott

A year ago, my daughter Scarlet and I Iaunched our own wellness brand – Maeva Rae. Maeva means “welcome “in Tahitian, “intoxicating” in Celtic and “beautiful” in Madagascan. Rae is Scarlet’s middle name and means “sunshine”. We thought the two worked well together – as do we.

A year on, and we are very proud of our Maeva Rae eco-friendly luxury candles which have been expertly formulated in the UK alongside our cosmetic scientist.

The Maeva Rae brand

Since its launch, Maeva Rae has had a wonderful reception – we use 100% natural essential oils to bring you an unforgettable sensory experience – but our brand is also sustainable as our fragranced candles are vegan and produced using soy wax, hemp wick, recycled card – and even vegetable inks for the print.  Our products are as eco-friendly as we could possibly make them, in fact they are even pet-friendly.

In the development of our scents, we worked with a fantastic fragrance house, one that actually offers scientific validation of the mood-enhancing benefits. Consequently, Maeva Rae’s three fragrances;  Joy, Calm and Invigorate have perfectly blended oils to influence and boost our moods.

Collection of 3

Our Calm candle has notes of sweet basil, anise star, clove and vanilla to totally sooth the senses .

Our Joy candle boasts orange blossom, bergamot and tuberose to offer a feeling of well-being.

Our Invigorate candle has notes of eucalyptus, pine and cedar wood to uplift the mood.

Silver Winner

This year Maeva Rae was a Silver Award prize-winner at the Pure Beauty London Awards 2023.

Scarlet says “As a female-founded brand created in Whitstable, we put empowerment, inclusivity, and warmth at the heart of everything we do. I’m proud that all our candles are made in the UK with loving care and attention to detail. The support and inspiration from my mum alongside the Maeva Rae team has meant that I’ve been able to create a product that truly encapsulates my values and my passion in an environmentally conscious way. I hope you get to experience a true sense of wellbeing and comfort with every burn.”

For my own part, I have been a professional makeup artist and skin therapist for almost 30 years contributing to features in Vogue, Elle and You magazine, to name a few. I’ve worked for brands like Chanel and Max Factor and with high profile names like Jude Law, Helena Christensen, the Sugar Babes, the Spice Girls and the Women’s England Football Team – and the men’s!

I enjoy every minute of my work but after a recent house move, I have now set up a makeup and skin treatment room in my new home in Chestfield – just ten minutes’ drive from Whitstable – and I’m ready to offer a variety of treatments which include Bespoke Facials and a 90-minute Luxury Signature Facial.

My treatments are tailor-made to suit your skin’s individual needs and I use products from  Dermalogica , Sisley, Barbelo (a gorgeous locally-made brand) as well as oils I specially blend myself. With “Add On” indulgent treats for hands or feet from only £20, there is something for everyone.

This Christmas, to mark the special launch of my new treatment room, I am also offering a treatment facial with a gift of one of Maeva Rae’s beautifully scented candles to take home with you . The only hard part for you will be choosing which one!
