On Tuesday 29th October at 7.30pm Canterbury and Whitstable Stop the War are holding a public meeting at Friend’s Meeting House, 6 The Friar’s, Canterbury, CT1 2AS. The title of the meeting is ‘Fighting for Peace’.

The speakers will be Andrew Feinstein and Shabbir Lakha.

Andrew Feinstein

Andrew Feinstein – stood against Starmer in the 2024 General Election

Andrew Feinstein stood against Starmer in the 2024 General Election. As an independent pro-peace candidate, backed by a wide group of left wing organisations, he received over 7,000 votes and came second. Andrew is a long standing peace campaigner, anti-apartheid activist, ex-ANC MP, and Executive Director of ‘Shadow World Investigations’ which exposes the nefarious world of the weapons industry.

Shabbir Lakha

Shabbir Lakha is a Stop the War officer, a People’s Assembly activist and a member of Counterfire.

While studying at the University of Kent, Shabbir Lakha was active in the Palestine Society and was a member of its committee. He was a co-organiser of the first Israeli Apartheid Week at the University and he organised the first demo for Palestine in Canterbury. Currently he is a leading member of Stop the War, a member of ‘Counterfire’ and an activist in the ‘The People’s Assembly’. Shabbir has spoken at previous local Stop the War meetings with great success.

This meeting has been arranged at a time when many thousands of Palestinian and Lebanese people are being killed in genocidal wars. The war in Ukraine continues while at the same time ‘The West’ and its allies look to unleash wars against Iran and even China. In the lifetime of most people alive today there has never been a greater danger of a world war erupting. In the UK successive governments are supporting genocide and the march to war. It is up to us to stop them.
