Whitstable Umbrella Centre 13 September 2025
Whitstable comedy goes from strength to strength as the latest Girls, Glamour, Giggles evening has shifted to the first class venue of the Whitstable Umbrella Centre. Jo Phaure, the promoter and local comedienne, who will feature on the bill, said “the Umbrella Centre is a fantastic local resource, with a proper stage and facilities which enables me to bring higher calibre acts to Whitstable.”

The evening will feature a wide range of comedy and entertainment.
Host
This event will be hosted by Jo Phaure’s fellow St Mary’s RC Alumni Genevieve Pepper who brings her dangerous alter ego Ms Jezebel Pye to the stage to host this first class night of comedy.

Headliner
The evening will be headlined by Sarah Mills a disabled writer, actor, comedian and producer who’s fantastic debut Radio 4 series, Sarah Mills’ Bad Bod Squad aired in November 2024. Sarah is a winner of the BAFTA Rocliffe award for TV Comedy and a Semi-Finalist in the Funny Women Stand Up Awards. Listed as one of 2023’s Disability Power 100, and a runner-up in the Entertainment category sponsored by Channel 4.

Mischief
Second on the bill is Ramsgate based Clint Stevenson who has been captivating audiences with his magic since he was just 19. At 30, he took the stage at the G Casino talent competition, where he discovered his talent for blending comedy with magic. Since then, he has honed his unique style through street performances in London, mastering the art of engaging crowds with laughter, wonder and a touch of mischief. His act is chaotic, engaging and full of audience participation and big belly laughs.

“On any other occasion Clint would be a headliner, but with Girls, Glamour, Giggles, the whole ethos is about putting women on stage and creating women led events, Clint is an absolute gent and I’m thrilled to be able to bring such variety to Whitstable.” Jo Phaure.
Fringe

Katie-Rose Petley is a “delightfully vulgar” Canadian stand-up who cut her comedy teeth in Amsterdam before settling on the Kent coast. This year she’s been taking her one-hour show Dirty B*tch to festivals across the UK including the Brighton Fringe and Newcastle Fringe. Catch her this October at the Faversham Fringe!

Hypnotist
Jason Simmons is an electrifying hypnotist, mentalist, mind-reader, and comedian whose shows blend laughter, amazement, and audience participation. Known for his unique mix of comedy hypnosis, sleight-of-mind mentalism and quick wit, Jason’s performances keep crowds guessing:“Is this real… or brilliantly staged?”

Imagine Derren Brown meets Tommy Cooper—Jason’s style is smart, cheeky, and always unforgettable. Volunteers may find themselves believing they’re pop stars, stuck to their chairs, or having their minds hilariously read, all while the rest of the audience is in stitches.
Organiser
And finally, organiser, Jo Phaure, local comedian and slowly rising star, brings her latest woes to the stage with her usual sardonic, dark blue anecdotal self-depreciating humour. A finalist in the West End New Old Comedian of the Year competition in 2024 she’s just returned from her first bash at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Jo said “Of course the whole endeavour is about creating space for female comediennes, not least myself. I’m bankrolling the event, it’s a risk, but if we sell tickets I’d love to regularly run big nights bringing national acts to the Umbrella.”
